The Short Form Film Company commissioned me to sound design and mix this lovely piece. Lots of replacement sfx, balancing and sweetening. Fun. Commissioned by Central Saint Martins to celebrate their move to Kings cross in 2011. To be shown at KX Culture: Stories/Images/Sound exhibition at the Lethaby Gallery, CMS, Southampton Row. Kings Cross is one of the most culturally diverse and cosmopolitan areas in London. It has a mixed history and is, of course, a world famous center of transport.
Less acknowledged is the audio conflict of its geography – of its commuters, cultures, students, public spaces, rails, roads - it's physical and social connections. From the concentrated peace of a tattoo parlor, clubbers dancing in Egg to basketball in a cage in Somers Town - Kings Cross Sounds is a visceral, visual soundscape; a kaleidoscope of clashing audio celebrating the dawn of a new era for the university.
Directors - Joe and Sam Talbot, Editor - Will Hodgson, Camera - Joe Talbot, Sound design - Nick Ryan. Shot on Canon 5D Mark II with Sigma prime lenses over a 1 week period in August 2010.
